Hadi Aghaee: Human Kind
Oct 11th - Nov 23rd
Opening reception: Saturday October 11th, 4:00-6:00 PM
Join us for "Human Kind", the latest exhibition by San Jose artist Hadi Aghaee. His teeming surrealist tapestry brings us face to face the "constant struggle of people over the ages and around the world". While still providing glimmers of hope for the future, the show is a staggering reminder that with great power comes great responsibility.
From the Artist
There are three main people I keep their words close to my heart and my art. On the walls of the United Nations headquarter in New York is a poem by the 13th century Iranian poet and philosopher Saadi Shirazi. “Human beings are members of a whole, in creation of one essence and soul. If one member is afflicted with pain, other members uneasy will remain. If you've no sympathy for human pain, the name of human you cannot retain”. Renowned artist and activist Nina Simon once articulated, “As an artist, you have the duty to reflect on the time you live in,” while activist Cesar Cruz emphasized that "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable." As I continue on this journey, I am committed to carrying their words close to my heart, allowing them to guide the creation of art that resonates deeply with societal issues and prompts thought-provoking dialogue.
