Seeing us, understanding us.
Often feeling like I arrived here from a different world, an effect from spending my childhood in one land and becoming an adult in another, a typical immigrant story I suppose, I look at us through the eyes of an explorer.
From trying to comprehend the complexities and contradictions within me,
to figuring out how to be a person
to all the ones I love,
to all the ones I care about,
to all the ones I know,
to all of humanity,
to all of earth and
to all of time and space.
My unpacking of all this has always been present in my work, most of the time in disguise, sandwiched in all the layers.
Each painting in this exhibition is a reflection on events, thoughts and feelings that play out each month summing up a whole year leading to the opening day. Starting from October 2025 to September 2026. It is life! Rendered in colorful snapshots of nature and pieces of dried up paint.
